• Education

    • The Department of Psychology was established in 1972 as an independent department at the Kazakh State Women's Pedagogical Institute (on October 28, 1972, based on Order No. 150 dated September 27, 1972).

      According to Protocol No. 3 of June 27, 2024, of the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University, the "Department of Theoretical and Practical Psychology" was renamed to the "Department of Psychology."

      • In the 2023-2024 academic year, the Department of Theoretical and Practical Psychology celebrates its 50th anniversary.
      • At different times, the department has been led by the following scientists:
      • 1973-1976: the first head of the department was Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor E.S. Sufiev.
      • 1976-1989: Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Professor K.R. Rakhimbekov.
      • 1989–2017: Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor H.T. Sheryazdanova.
      • 2017-2019: Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Senior Lecturer L.K. Ermekbayeva.
      • From 2019 to 2021: PhD, Senior Lecturer A.Zh. Ayapbergenova. From this period, the position of the head of the department was renamed to Leader of Educational Programs.
      • Since 2021 to the present: Candidate of Psychological Sciences, PhD, Leader of Educational Programs G.T. Topanova.

      The department actively conducts scientific research in the field of psychology, focusing on the study of psychological aspects of personality development at various stages of ontogenesis. These studies contribute to a deeper understanding of personality formation processes, enriching theoretical and practical approaches in psychology.

      Special attention is given to the practical activities of the department's staff, who actively provide professional assistance and training within the framework of national and international socio-psychological projects.

      Based on the results of the competition for grant funding of scientific and (or) scientific and technical projects for 2024-2026, announced by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the project team led by M.K. Bapaeva. won a grant of about 77 million tenge in the direction of “Intellectual Potential of the Nation”

      Research project funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MES RK). Based on the results of the competition for grant funding of scientific and (or) scientific and technical projects for 2024-2026, announced by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the project team led by M.K.       Research project funded internally by QyzPU. Following the results of the internal competition for 12-month funding for research and applied work aimed at achieving the strategic goals of QyzPU, the project team led by G.T. Topanova won the highest evaluation and internal funding with the project "Developing a non-violent family culture as a factor in supporting adolescents prone to victim behavior and suicide." Research project of Internal financing QyzPU in the amount of 3 million tenge for 2024-2025. Project contributors: G.T. Topanova, M.K. Bapaeva, A.K. Bayzdrahmanova, M.I. Bagibayeva, A.S.       • Leader of Educational Programs G.T. Topanova is an Ambassador to the European Association EAEF for 2024-2025 as part of the international social project "Corporatehealthlc" from the Republic of Kazakhstan in collaboration with international corporations.
      • "Parassatty Ata-Ana. Wise Parent" is a social project for parents in 2023-2024 (A.K. Bayzdrahmanova, M.I. Bagibayeva).

      Faculty members of the department are highly regarded experts, holding key positions on the Unified Higher Education Platform and at the Center for Scientific and Technical Expertise. Their professionalism is also highlighted by their participation as jury members in competitions like "Best Pedagogue-Psychologist" and the "Festival of Pedagogical Ideas," showcasing their leading competencies in pedagogy and psychology (M.K. Bapaeva, G.T. Topanova, Z.Zh. Beysenova, A.K. Bayzdrahmanova).

      As part of the "Republican Educational and Methodological Council" based at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, G.T. Topanova and L.K. Ermekbayeva joined the "Psychology" subsection.

      During national crises and quarantines, faculty members hosted live broadcasts, online master classes, marathons, and webinars to provide psychological support to the population. They also offered online consultations via hotlines in collaboration with national and international professional communities (G.T. Topanova, A.K. Bayzdrahmanova, L.K. Ermekbayeva, M.I. Bagibayeva).

      Scientific and practical support, based on memorandums, is organized across a wide range of institutions, including kindergartens, schools, colleges, development and crisis centers, orphanages, medical institutions, National Guard military units, the Military Institute and the KNB Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, closed institutions, and rehabilitation centers. Work is also carried out with emergency psychological services and family support centers.

      Leader of Educational Programs G.T. Topanova is a member of the working group for drafting the law "On Psychological Activities" under the Women's Wing of the "Amanat" party.

      The mission of the department is to train qualified pedagogical psychologists and clinical psychologists for the fields of education, healthcare, social, and legal sciences. The main activities include mastering modern methods of psychological research and providing expert support.

      Achievements in Science: 

      In 2024 -2025, for high achievements in science, the state award of the Order «Kurmet» was awarded to Doctor of Psychological Sciences, professor of the department Kh.T. Sheryazdanova. The department's staff has been awarded numerous state and departmental honors, prizes, and titles over the years, including: "Honored Worker of Kazakhstan," "Excellence in Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the Ybyray Altynsarin Prize, "For Merits in the Development of Science in Kazakhstan," "For Diligent Work," as well as letters of appreciation and diplomas from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and A. Baitursynov gold and silver medals. The title of "Best University Teacher" was awarded in 2005, 2014, and 2017 to H.T. Sheryazdanova and M.K. Bapaeva. On September 26, 2024, veteran faculty members H.T. Sheryazdanova, Z.D. Utepbergenova, G.M. Kasymova, and M.K. Bapaeva were awarded the jubilee medal "For Contribution to the Development of the University." Authorship certificates for textbooks, teaching aids, and electronic programs were received in 2021, 2022, and 2023 (H.T. Sheryazdanova, M.K. Bapaeva, G.M. Kasymova, G.T. Topanova). Faculty members have publications in both international and national ranking journals, including M.K. Bapaeva, G.T. Topanova, L.K. Ermekbayeva, G.M. Kasymova, Z.D. Utepbergenova, T.B.       • 2nd place in the undergraduate research competition at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, 3rd place in the undergraduate research competition at the Academy of Intellectual Development, Moscow, Russia (supervised by G.T. Topanova), 3rd place in the master's research competition at Abai KazNPU (supervised by M.K. Bapaeva).

      2nd year master's student in specialty 7M0310 «Psychology»  Karabaeva M.K., scientific advisor Bapaeva M.K., was awarded for high achievements in the study of adaptation of military personnel and active trade union activities in 2024-2025. badge «For services to trade unions».

      Under the guidance of the department's staff, large-scale events are held to strengthen students' creative abilities. In 2024, Lecturer A.S. Aubakir and second-year Psychology student Tursyntai A. won 1st place in the "Eki Zhuldiz" creative competition. Students regularly receive training and participate in international and national subject Olympiads. At the All-Russian Psychology Olympiad in 2021-2022, first- and second-year Pedagogy and Psychology students won 1st and 2nd places (supervised by G.T. Topanova). Under the leadership of Senior Lecturer D.E. Abdramanova, students contributed significantly to the department's success, taking 2nd place in the university's "Startup 2021" innovation projects competition. The project "Tomiris," aimed at developing preschool children's cognitive abilities through "365 Games and Coloring Pages for Every Day," reflected a commitment to innovation in education.

      Letters of appreciation are received annually by students and faculty from military units and crisis centers, acknowledging the department's contributions to society. Since 2019, students and faculty from the department have participated in the social startup "Ana Men Bala", supported by the Resource Center of the "Ana Uyi-Dom Mamy" Public Foundation in Almaty (M.I. Bagibayeva, F.M. Kuantkanova, A.K. Bayzdrahmanova). A student research club, "Working on Cognitive and Psycho-emotional Aspects of the Individual," is actively functioning under the leadership of A.K. Kulymbayeva, M.B. Uakassova, and M.A. Amirbekova (2023-2024).

      Volunteer Activities: The department participates in a variety of programs and projects, including "Ana Men Bala," "16 Days Without Violence," "Happy Family," "Psychological Support for Divorced Women," "Comprehensive Measures for Improving Crisis Centers' Activities," "Prevention of Psychological, Pedagogical, and Social Neglect Among Adolescents," "Psychological Assistance and Building Resilience," "Wise Parent. Parassatty Ata-Ana," "Parenting University," and "Psychological Shield." These initiatives aim to support and develop the community, provide assistance to those in need, and strengthen social stability.

        In 1967 she entered the Faculty of Psychology of the Moscow State University. MV Lomonosov, which she graduated in 1972 with a degree in Psychology. 1972 - 77 - Trainee researcher, post-graduate student of the Research Institute of General and Pedagogical Psychology of the USSR Academy of Pedagogical Sciences. In 1972 she defended her Ph.D. thesis "Development of a selective attitude to visual influences in preschool children" at the Research Institute of Preschool Education of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the SSR in Moscow.

        1977 - 1980 - Lecturer at the Department of Psychology, KAZ PI them. Abay. From 1980 to the present, he has been working at the Kazakh State Women's Pedagogical Institute. 1980 - 1999 - Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Psychology, doctoral student. In 1999 she defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic: "Psychological foundations of professional training of teachers and psychologists of preschool education" in the specialty 19.00.07 - Educational psychology in Moscow, Russia. In 2001, the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan received the academic title of professor in the specialty "Psychology". From 1989 to 2000 she was the head of the department of psychology of Kazgoszhenpi, from 2000 to 2018 the head of the department of theoretical and practical psychology of the faculty of "Pedagogy and psychology" of Kaznatszhenpu. About more than 200 articles, 20 monographs and 14 textbooks have been published in the Kazakh and Russian languages. 3 doctors, 30 candidates of psychological sciences, 12 undergraduates in the specialty "Psychology" have been trained.

        Kulymbaeva Almagul Karibekovna-in 2001 she entered the Abai Almaty State University, in 2005 she graduated from the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University with a degree in Pedagogy and Psychology.(MB #0065514).         Beisenbayeva Zhaina worked as a teacher of pedagogy and psychology at the College of Canary University from 2009 to 2012. Since 2012, Zhaina Adihanovna  has been working as a senior lecturer at the Department of Theoretical and Practical Psychology. From 2014 to 2015, she worked as the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology.

        In 2015, on behalf of the National Center for Education Development "ORLEU", full-time practical courses were held for teachers of higher educational institutions in Dusseldorf, Germany, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Paris, France. To date, Zh. Beisenbayeva has published more than 50 scientific articles at the international and national levels and about 40 certificates of advanced training.
