Application Submission Deadline
According to the order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated October 31, 2018, No. 600, admission to doctoral studies at higher education institutions and postgraduate organizations (hereinafter referred to as HEIs) through the placement of a state educational order for PhD programs, as well as through non-budgetary and own funds for students, is carried out through payment.
Admission of foreign nationals to doctoral studies is conducted on a fee-paying basis. The admission of foreign citizens to HEIs or research organizations on a fee-paying basis is carried out throughout the calendar year based on the results of interviews conducted by the admission committees of HEIs or research organizations. The admission of foreign citizens is conducted in accordance with the academic calendar up to 5 (five) days from the beginning of the next academic period.
Applications for admission to doctoral studies at HEIs are accepted by the admission committees of HEIs and the National Testing Center's information system during the following periods:
- From July 3 to August 3 of the calendar year;
- From October 25 to November 10 of the calendar year.
Applicants with an internationally standardized GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) test certificate must enter the certificate data when submitting their application for the entrance exam.
The conversion of the GRE scores into entrance exam scores is carried out when submitting an application for the competition for the state educational grant according to the schedule of rules or when applying to HEIs on a fee-paying basis.
Entrance exams to doctoral programs by group of educational programs are held during the following periods:
- From August 4 to August 20 of the calendar year;
- From November 19 to December 11 of the calendar year.
When submitting an application, the applicant specifies one HEI and one group of educational programs.
Admission to doctoral studies is carried out during the following periods:
- From August 15 to August 28 of the calendar year;
- From December 26 to January 10 of the calendar year.

List of documents required for admission
- Application addressed to the Chairman of the Board - Rector for admission;
- education document (when submitting the documents to the Admissions Office the original and an annex as well as a notarized copy should be provided);
- a personal identification document (2 copies are needed for identification);
- Copy of the official certificate (KAZTEST) of passing the state language exam, issued by the National Institute of Education.
- Copy of foreign language certificate (from English, French, German) International English Language Tests System Academic (IELTS Academic, threshold score - at least 5.5);
Test of English as a Foreign Language Institutional Testing Program Internet-based Test (TOEFL IBT, threshold score - at least 46);
Test of English as a Foreign Language paper-based test, (TOEFL PBT, threshold score - at least 453);
TOEFL ITP (Test of English as a Foreign Language Institutional Testing Program), threshold score - at least 460 (mandatory to take an additional Test of English as a Foreign Language Institutional Testing Program);
Deutsche Sprachprefung fuer den Hochschulzugang (DSH, level Niveau B2/B2), Test DaF-Prufung (level Niveau B2/B2);
Test de Français international™ (TFI at least level B2 in reading and listening sections), Diplome d'Etudes en Langue française (DELF, level B2), Diplome Approfondi de Langue française (DALF, level B2), Test de connaissance du français (TCF, at least 50 points);
- The list of scientific and scientifically-methodical papers (approved), plan of researches (scientific publications, abstracts and other documents) for last 3 calendar years;
- Medical certificate in electronic format (certificate from narcological, psychological dispensary) on the form 075/u, approved by order № DSM-175/2020 RK.
- Two 3x4 cm photos;
- a personal record sheet, confirmed by the human resources department at the place of work, and other document confirming the employment history;

Deadline for submitting documents
According to the Standard rules for admission to educational organizations that implement educational programs of postgraduate education, approved by the order of the Minister of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated October 31, 2018 No. 600, applications for PhD degree are accepted by the admission commissions of organizations of higher and postgraduate education.
The deadline for accepting applications is from July 3 to August 3 of the calendar year.
Comprehensive testing is conducted from 4 to 20 August of the calendar year, enrollment-until 28 August of the calendar year.
