Speaking club with Calvin Harris at QyzPU

  In the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 academic years, Kevin Harris, a US citizen, held a free Speaking English club every week on Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Center for Academic Subscription and Language Learning at the Institute of Philology of the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University. 

  The speech club was attended by university students who developed language and speech skills in English. Because the most effective way to learn languages is to talk to native speakers. It is known that communication with native speakers is the fastest and most effective way to overcome the language barrier.   Kevin Harris, a native speaker, also helped students improve their understanding and communication skills in English, aroused their interest in English, promoted confidence that they speak a foreign language, replenished their vocabulary and helped to dispel their fears about the English language. Each meeting in the speech club was devoted to certain topics, the participants during the meeting had a conversation with each other, watched videos in English, talked through small dialogues, performed language development exercises.

  Chair of the Managing Board – Rector Gulmira Kanai thanked and awarded a special badge dedicated to the 80th anniversary of our university, taking into account the merits of Kevin Harris, a native speaker, who led the speech club at the Center for Academic Subscription and Language Learning (Speaking club) in the development of spoken language of university students.
