      The course "Fundamentals of scientific leadership by (PhD) doctoral students" was held, organized under the leadership of Ayubayeva Nazipa Altynbekovna. The 72-hour course included 48 hours of theoretical and 24 hours of practical training.

      Course program

      Theoretical modules:

      • Introduction to the PhD scientific manual.
      • Knowledge, skills and qualities necessary for leadership.
      • The role and responsibility of the head.
      • Expected results from management.
      • Control over the result of the management.
      • Ethics and academic integrity related to leadership.
      • Support for the well-being of a PhD candidate.
      • Support for the professional growth of a PhD candidate.

      Practical directions:

      • Making changes to the PhD Student's Guide (The Doctoral Student's Guide) in accordance with the new requirements.
      • Making changes to the requirements for writing a doctoral dissertation in accordance with international standards (APA Style, Chicago Style).

      These modules were a collection of basic information for the supervisor, including relevant university policies, codes and rules to ensure their accessibility to faculty and students.

      Results and achievements

      More than thirty scientific supervisors took part in the course, of which 28 successfully completed the training, presenting their projects on selected topics in groups of two people. The participants received certificates of completion of the course, which were presented by Rector Gulmira Amirkhanovna.

      All participants actively participated in the discussions and reviewed their approaches to the management of doctoral students. During the course, they worked both in large groups and individually, using various techniques.

      Special moments

      The course teacher, Nazipa Altynbekovna, also conducted anonymous conversations with doctoral students in order to take their opinions into account when developing new rules and requirements for doctoral studies. Upon completion of the course, it is planned to create a working group to develop these rules and requirements, which will be an important step in improving the quality of scientific guidance and training for doctoral students.

      The course "Fundamentals of Scientific Leadership by (PhD) doctoral students" ended with a successful exchange of knowledge and experience, which will undoubtedly contribute to the professional growth and development of both scientific supervisors and their doctoral students.
