Students of the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University had a unique opportunity to enrich their knowledge about rational nutrition. Nutritionist Almagul Erzhekenova, a general practitioner and Master of Medical Sciences in Human Nutrition, gave a lecture on the importance of a balanced diet and the risks of irrational nutrition.
Dr. Erzhekenova, a member of the American Society For Nutrition community with more than 10 years of experience, presented students with a range of information to help them understand the importance of a proper approach to nutrition. The lecture covered key aspects such as moderate eating, fruit size, the plate principle, the palm principle, balanced nutrition, a varied diet, eating patterns, the food pyramid, and nutritional analysis.
One of the main points emphasized by the nutritionist is the principle of moderate eating. Modern lifestyle often implies an accelerated rhythm, which can affect eating habits. Almagul Erzhekenova emphasized that overeating and underconsumption of food can lead to serious health problems such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
Another important aspect is choosing the right portion size based on the palm principle. The dietitian recommends students to pay attention to their palm size when serving portions, which will help them avoid overeating and maintain an optimal weight.
A balanced and varied diet was also an important part of the lecture. The nutritionist emphasized that variety in the diet contributes to getting all the necessary nutrients. She recommends including different types of foods in the diet to ensure that the body has everything it needs for health and energy.
The students were also introduced to the plate principle and the food pyramid to help them structure their diet and get all the necessary components. Regular nutritional analysis was also highlighted as an important tool for maintaining good health as it tracks calorie and vitamin intake. The girls were left inspired and ready to make changes in their eating habits, recognizing the importance of taking care of their own health through sustainable nutrition.
