      The Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University, in collaboration with the the Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology, is organizing the International scientific and practical conference "Historical memory and national identity" as part of the "Nurpeisov readings", dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the scholar-historian, Academician Kenes Nurpeisov.

      The purpose of the conference is to highlight the contribution of Academician K. Nurpeis to the development of national historical science, the study of the history of the Alash movement, as well as to showcase his life path. Additionally, the conference aims to discuss pressing issues in the history of Kazakhstan in the 20th century.

      Directions of the conference: Academician K. Nurpeisov and his contribution to the study of the Alash movement history; historical memory and scientific heritage of K. Nurpeisov; modern approaches to the study of the history of Kazakhstan in the twentieth century; problems of preserving national identity in the Soviet period; Soviet modernization in Kazakhstan in the 1920s and 1930s; Kazakhstan during the Great Patriotic War; Socio-political processes in Kazakhstan in the 1960s and 1990s; education, science and culture; current approaches to teaching the history of Kazakhstan in the twentieth century in universities; historical education as a tool for fostering patriotism and citizenship.

      Scholars, university and secondary school teachers, doctoral students, and master's students are invited to participate in the conference.

      The working languages of the conference are Kazakh, Russian, and English.
