QyzPU held a meeting on the fight against corruption

  ALMATY. March 11. Press center – Fight against corruption should be conducted continuously. At a meeting of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on anti-corruption issues at the beginning of the year, instructions were given to competent agencies. In this regard, the teachers and students of QyzPU met with the head of the prevention department of the Agency for the fight against corruption in Almaty Kanat Salimbayev and the head of the Republican project council «SANALY URPAQ» Kayirzhan Tokushev to discuss anti-corruption and its prevention.

  The meeting was opened by the Chair of the Managing Board – Rector of QyzPU Gulmira Qanay, who said that the constant fight against corruption is one of the main missions of the University.

  - The fight against corruption begins with the development of academic integrity. According to the World Economic Forum, corruption has damaged the global economy by $2.6 trillion. The consequences of corruption proportionally affect the most vulnerable segments of society. Widespread corruption hinders investment, economic growth, and undermines the rule of law. And academic integrity allows students and staff to respect and recognize the work of others and to freely create new ideas, knowledge, and creative work, - said Gulmira Qanay.

  She also talked about oversight for violations of academic integrity, such as copying dissertations, plagiarism, and the premature distribution of exam questions and tests to students.

  Kayirzhan Tokushev, head of the Republican Project Council «Sanaly Urpaq», shared new information on the topic «Corruption and the fight against it».

  - According to the Corruption Perception Index, from 2016 to 2019, Kazakhstan ranked 131-113 in the world in terms of corruption, with a low score. And in 2020, we dropped to 94-th place and achieved a good score. Unfortunately, in 2021, that score dropped back down to 102-nd place in the world in terms of corruption. I believe that the university is a structure to educate students against corruption, - said Kayirzhan Tokushev.

  The parties expressed mutual support for the development of joint special programs and assistance in their implementation. At the end of the meeting, a discussion took place.
