OBITUARY: Zheniskul Kozhantayeva

  ALMATY. FEBRUARY 11. PRESS CENTER - The staff of Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University expresses its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased in connection with the death of Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Zheniskul Kozhantayeva.

  Kozhantayeva Zheniskul was born on April 27, 1943, in Shyeli district, Kyzylorda region. In 1960 entered the faculty of natural history and geography of Kazakh State Teacher Training Institute, and in 1965 graduated with honors from geography and biology. During studying in the 4th and 5th courses she worked as a secretary of the Komsomol committee of the institute.

  According to the decision of the Highest Attestation Commission under the USSR Council of Ministers from January 9, 1980, she was given the title of associate professor of the botany department. Also by the decision of the Highest Attestation Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan from November 22, 1996, she was given the academic rank of a professor.

  In 1965 she became the assistant of the Department of Botany. In 1975 she defended her thesis on the theme "Biological features of species of phyllosticta fungi".

  In 1994 she defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic "Biology, ecology, taxonomic criteria of septoria fungi species" at a special session of the Institute of Botany in Tashkent. On this topic, she published two monographs: "Biological features of related Septoria species in the south of Kazakhstan", "Taxonomic criteria, the phylogeny of fungi belonging to the genus Septoria". In 2003 she was the co-author of the textbook on biology for the 7th grade, in 2005 she became the co-author of the textbook on biology for the 9th grade. She has published more than 150 scientific works.

  Under the leadership of Zheniskul Kozhantayeva graduate students, L.E. Anuarova and A.Bostanova completed their research and received the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences. She was the head of the Botany Department from 1984 to 1989. From 1996 to 2000 she was the Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

  From 2000 to 2021, she worked as a professor at the Department of Biology at Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University, Faculty of Natural Sciences.
