ALMATY. FEBRUARY 11. PRESS CENTER – Today is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This date has been celebrated by the decision of the United Nations General Assembly since February 11, 2016.
The main goal of the UN General Assembly is to promote gender equality and the rights of women and girls, ensuring full and equal access and participation of women and girls in science.
The Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University carries out projects and activities aimed at full and equal access of women and girls to science and their equal rights and opportunities, support for women scientists, support their participation in research activities in science and technology.
– Over the past 15 years, a lot of work has been done around the world to attract more women to science. However, their number is not growing. According to official data, the share of women scientists in the world is 28.4%. Most of them are bachelors and masters. And the number of PhDs is much smaller. Our task is to increase this, – say the representatives of the world organization.
This day is a reminder that women and girls play an important role in the scientific and technological community and their participation must be increased.
