      ALMATY. FEBRUARY 1. PRESS CENTER – A QyzPU student became the winner of the world sports competition! Ayaulym Ulan, the 2nd year student of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, won a bronze medal at the mixed martial arts (MMA) World Championships.

      421 athletes from 56 countries took part in the global sports competition, held January 24-29 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Championships were held in age categories 18-21 (youth) and 21+ (adults).

      Ayaulym competed in the women's 47.6kg weight class and lost in the semi-finals to Mexico's Valeria Gomez to win the bronze medal.

      Kazakhstan at the world championship represented by 42 athletes in 29 weight categories. 22 Kazakhstani athletes qualified for the semi-finals. I was among them too. In sports it's always like this, if you win once, you can lose the next time. I'm not stopping there. Now I'm preparing for the championship of Kazakhstan in martial arts without rules, in March this year. In the future I want to take part in the Asian championship, which will be held in our country, and take a prize, Ayaulym said.

      The talented girl, who is studying physical education and sports at QyzPU, has already achieved a lot. In particular, she is the first place winner of the Kazakhstan MMA Cup, a two-time champion of Kazakhstan in pankration, silver medalist of the world championship in pankration, champion of Kazakhstan in grappling and MMA.
