ALMATY. May 25. Press center – During a meeting with active participants of the debate games, the head of the department, Askhat Aimagambetov, noted that the debate movement among schoolchildren is revived in the country and debates will become an integral part of the educational work in schools, colleges and universities.
Debate coordinators, heads of education departments, pro-rectors of universities, active debaters of schools and student debate clubs from all districts and cities of the country were invited to the meeting. The Ministry of Education and Science developed a concept of development of the debate movement in Kazakhstan and the rules of debating tournaments among schoolchildren and students. Work is underway to train coaches, and debate clubs are being opened.
– Debate should be perceived not as a game, but as an educational technology. That is why we actively develop this movement. – Along with such projects as «Management», the project «Debate» should be given special attention in all educational institutions, – said Minister Askhat Aimagambetov.
The head of the Ministry of Education and Science also noted that in his student days he had actively participated in debating games and shared his experience with the people.
– Debates form important skills in a person. For example, this experience was of great benefit to me and now helps even in the process of work. Therefore, we need to actively use this educational technology to develop children's critical thinking, to cultivate the ability to work in a team, answer questions, argue their opinion, articulate their thoughts correctly, – said the main teacher of the country.
In addition, Askhat Aimagambetov stressed that the development of the debate movement should not happen on paper. It is important to get children interested and help them develop their personal qualities.
It is worth noting that the winners of the debate tournaments may receive grants from the rectors of universities.
