ALMATY. May 12. Press center – «Courage is a legacy for the country, a slogan for a generation». That was the title of a meeting at the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University. Public figures, scientists and university professors took part in the meeting dedicated to the Day of Victory in World War II.
The event, organized online, was opened and led by Bibigul Imanbekova, head of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines.
In her speech, she noted that Victory Day is a symbol of courage and glory of our heroes, who won in a cruel war against fascist invaders for our peaceful life, liberation and bright future.
– As the year’s progress to fire and bullets, neither are the veterans who defended their homeland. Once, 1 million 200,000 soldiers left our country for the bloody front, more than 601,000 of whom did not return home. Today there are only 665 veterans of the Great Patriotic War left in the country, – Bibigul Imanbekova said.
Soldiers fought at the front with the Nazi army to defend the homeland, while the people who remained in the country toiled on the home front and actively contributed to the approach of victory. According to data, during the war 30.8 million tons of grain, 14.4 million tons of potatoes and vegetables, 15.8 million tons of meat, 17.6 thousand quintals of wool, 2.5 million pieces of warm clothing and other products were sent from the country to the front. In addition, the Kazakh home front workers sent to the liberated areas more than 500,000 head of cattle and more than 110,000 horses to the front.
During the meeting, Professor of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Doctor of Historical Sciences Bolat Sailan spoke about his compatriots who participated in the Second World War.
– During the war years in Kazakhstan, 12 rifle and 4 cavalry divisions, 7 rifle brigades and about 50 separate regiments and battalions were formed and sent to the front. Military formations formed on the territory of our country, from the first days of the war, fought heroically against the enemy. Especially in the battle near Moscow, the Kazakhstanis performed a great feat and earned respect. In particular, in the defense of one of the main roads of the Moscow direction - Volokolamskoe highway-316 – rifle division under the command of Major General I. Panfilov showed unprecedented heroism. In addition, the senior lieutenant-Panfilovite Bauyrzhan Momyshuly in the battle near Moscow with his battalion broke through the enemy blockade three times. He ended the war as Colonel B. Momyshuly, commander of the 9th Guards Rifle Division. The story of the famous Russian writer Alexander Bek "Volokolamskoe highway" was dedicated to the feat of Bauyrzhan Momyshuly during the war, – Bolat Sailan said in his speech.
During the meeting, other participants spoke and noted that the indefatigable dedication, selfless work and invisible heroism of our fathers and mothers, who performed an unprecedented feat in the history of humankind, will forever remain in the memory of our people.
