The meeting of the Republican Educational-Methodical Council was held

   ALMATY. April 14. Press center – «Functional literacy: requirements and effective practices». A meeting of the Republican Educational-Methodical Council of the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University was held on this topic.

  The regular meeting of the Educational Methodological Association of the Council in the field of education «pedagogical sciences» – project management group was attended by heads and teachers of universities, employees of research organizations and educational institutions of different levels.

  At meeting questions of formation of functional literacy of preschool children, younger schoolchildren, students of high schools and preparation for it of the future experts were raised.

  The first speaker was Serik Irsaliev, president of International University «Astana», who gave a review of the history of preschool education and training, analyzed in detail the effective directions of the world practice. He also spoke about the requirements for future specialists, noting that the basis of functional literacy begins in the preschool period.

  Yerikzhan Sabyrovich, Deputy President of the Information and Analytical Center, named three reasons for the country and abroad to participate in the state survey. He also focused on the model of creative thinking competencies of students and explained it by examples of situations that define it.

  Yerkin Zhumankulova proposed to intensify work with various tasks for the training of young professionals, to create a working group for the selection of tasks for elementary school students.

  Zhanar Sagalieva, senior researcher of the National Academy of Education named after Ibrai Altynsarin, made a report "The current state and possibilities of functional literacy of elementary school students". The report named 4 main areas of educational quality monitoring and requirements for the development of components for the types of tasks for the development of functional literacy. Key areas of monitoring include reading literacy, math literacy, science literacy, and ICT literacy.

  During the online meeting, the senior manager of the "Center of Excellence" coach B. Sayfullaevna, the formation of scientific literacy and creative thinking of elementary school students, the employee of the publishing house "Almatykitap" A. Ryskulbekova, the formation of functional literacy through reading tasks in the textbook, the head of the Republican Center "Textbook" E. Nurlanov raised such issues as the requirements of international experience in the analysis of textbook content.

  - When training future specialists in higher education, it is necessary to pay attention to the introduction of the disciplines "Textbook" and "Examination Methodology" into the educational programs. This, in turn, directly affects the quality of textbooks,- said Yeldos Nurlanov, the head of the Republican Center "Textbook.

  At the conclusion of the meeting, Rosa Nabuova, a professor at Women's University, shared her experience in developing functional literacy for future professionals.
