Open lectures dedicated to the EMDR therapy method were held in Almaty at QyzPU. The event was organized by the EMDR Association of Kazakhstan and the Department of Psychology of the university. It served as an example of productive professional dialogue and experience exchange.
The speakers were certified international trainers from Spain. Dolores Mosquera presented an integrative approach to working with dissociative parts of the personality in cases of complex trauma, based on dialogue and empathy. Natalia Seyo focused in detail on the impact of unprocessed traumatic experiences on the mind and body, revealing the connection between trauma and psychosomatic disorders.
The lectures sparked strong interest within the professional community, confirming the growing demand for evidence-based psychotherapy methods in Kazakhstan.
Students and master’s students of QyzPU actively participated in the event.
Merei Kambyl, a first-year master’s student in the Pedagogy and Psychology program, shared her impressions of the training:
“We are happy to welcome international trainers to our university. I believe that the methods, techniques, and insights I gained during the training will definitely be useful in my future work. I am grateful to our university for this opportunity to gain such valuable knowledge,” she said.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a modern psychotherapy method that helps the brain process painful memories and traumatic events on its own, reducing their negative impact.
According to experts, such international events contribute to the professional development of Kazakhstani specialists and strengthen cooperation in the field of mental health.
