On September 24, the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines at QyzPU held a workshop on the topic: “Stalking as a Social Phenomenon: Youth, Technology, and Responsibility.” The event aimed to develop a comprehensive understanding of stalking and to identify the risks associated with its growing prevalence among young people.
The modern digital world offers new opportunities for communication, self-expression, and interaction. However, alongside these positive changes, the rapid development of technology has also brought new social threats. One such threat is stalking — obsessive pursuit, surveillance, or psychological pressure.
Key speakers at the workshop included representatives of the “Zhan-Saya” Crisis Center and the Almaty Bar Association. An open dialogue platform was organized as part of the event, where participants discussed the forms and manifestations of stalking, its spread through digital platforms, as well as the legal and psychological dimensions of the issue.
The workshop gathered members of the academic and educational communities, experts in law, social sciences, and psychology, as well as students and youth activists. The discussion focused on developing effective prevention measures and increasing legal awareness among young people.
Students in the second year of the Sociology program were particularly active, participating in the practical part of the workshop. As a result of the event, specific recommendations were developed to promote digital culture and legal consciousness among youth.
