Language and Identity in the Postcolonial Context: Sociolinguistic Analysis

  Today, at the initiative of the Department of Professional Training in Foreign Languages ​​of the Institute of Philology, a lecture on the topic "Language and Identity in the Postcolonial Context: Sociolinguistic Analysis" was held for students, masters and doctoral students of QyzPU.

  The lecture was given by Associate Professor of Nazarbayev University, Candidate of Philological Sciences Gulnar Abildayevna Omarbekova.

  The main goal of the event was to consider the issues of language and national identity in the postcolonial era from a socio-linguistic point of view, as well as to analyze in more detail the role of language policy and cultural influences in society.

  During the lecture, the participants got acquainted with current scientific views on the language situation in postcolonial countries, and also received detailed information about modern research and findings in this area.

  Through scientific analysis and practical examples, the audience understood that language is not only a means of communication, but also an integral part of culture and consciousness.

  The lecture gave the participants an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between language and national identity in the postcolonial period. Such events contribute to the development of critical thinking in future professionals and help to rethink the importance of linguistic consciousness.
