      At the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University, PhD, leading researcher at the Institute of Solid State Physics of the University of Latvia, Sergey Piskunov, held a scientific seminar for the faculty, master's students and doctoral students of the Department of Physics, on the topic: «Quantum-chemical modeling methods in physics using the example of photocatalytic water splitting».

      Piskunov Sergey PhD, Head of the Laboratory for Computer Modeling of the Electronic Structure of Solids at the Institute of Solid State Physics of the University of Latvia and Senior Researcher.

      In 1998, he graduated from Riga Aviation University (Latvia) with a degree in research engineering. In 2003, he received his doctorate in natural sciences from the University of Osnabrück (Germany). Since 2004, he has been working at the Institute of Solid State Physics of the University of Latvia.

      He is the author of about 100 articles in highly refereed journals. The citation index is 2326. H-index 27.

      S. Piskunov also conducted a training on the topic: «Organization of research work. Preparation of articles for peer-reviewed journals» for students, undergraduates, doctoral students and young scientists of the Department of Physics, Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Digital Technology.
