A round table was held with the participation of American teacher Nancy Lindberg

  October 22, 2024:  The Academic Writing Center at Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University in Almaty, hosted an interactive meeting and roundtable event attended by more than 30 students and educators to introduce English Language Fellow Nancy Lindberg to the community. Nancy is a second-year English Language Fellow, who is serving as an exchange teacher at Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University for the current academic year, following a year of service at Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University in Turkistan. She is from the state of Vermont in the USA.

  The meeting provided a friendly opportunity for students and teachers to become acquainted with Nancy and to learn about some of the programming she will bring to the university this year.  In addition to teaching undergraduate English classes, Nancy will offer academic writing workshops for Masters’ and Doctorate program students, professional development seminars for current and future educators, and conversation clubs. Nancy will also spend time with educators in the Almaty public schools.

  The writing center hosts created a comfortable and inclusive atmosphere, inviting attendees to enjoy tea, coffee, and sweets. During the roundtable portion of the event, participants introduced themselves to Nancy and the group, sharing some information about their professional and academic interests and goals.

  Nancy remarks, “It is such a pleasure to be so warmly welcomed by the friendly university community. I look forward to a year filled with academic sharing, cultural exchange, and many new friendships”.
