The head of the Mental Health Center of the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University Begasilyev Salima Askarkyzy took part in the first international forum "The best place for a child is the family", organized by the Ana Uyi Foundation in Astana.

The event brought together scientists from Harvard and Pittsburgh, government representatives, businessmen from the Forbes list and international experts from Turkey, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and Uzbekistan. The main goal of the forum is the introduction of the institute of professional foster families in Kazakhstan.

The forum was attended by Junli Lee, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Human Development and Education at Harvard University, and Tracy Larson, Professor and Director of Child Development at the University of Pittsburgh. They held master classes for specialists of guardianship authorities and heads of public organizations, drawing attention to the need to introduce professional foster families and transform orphanages in Kazakhstan.

The speakers noted the importance of the Ana Uyi project in the development of the institution of foster families in Kazakhstan. Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bibigul Asylova also focused on the essence of the correct implementation of this institution.

One of the initiators of the project, Aydin Rakhimbayev, spoke on behalf of the patrons.

"The Maternity Home Foundation has saved 10,000 children from orphanhood. By helping mothers in the most difficult moments, we have created conditions for 7 thousand babies to stay in their family. About 3 thousand more children were placed in foster homes. I am proud of our businessmen who have invested more than $17 million to support our children. Now there are about 4 thousand children left in the boarding school. In order for them to find their family, it is necessary to prepare a thousand foster families. This goal should unite businessmen, government agencies and society," Aydin Rakhimbayev said.
