A roundtable discussion on "Review of Gender Studies in Kazakhstan" was held

  ALMATY. МАY 05. PRESS CENTER - The Research Institute for "Social and Gender Studies" at the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University organized the Round Table on the topic "Mapping Gender Research in Kazakhstan", which was hold on May 4th, 2022. Scientists and researchers from Kazakhstan and foreign professors attended the Round table, as well as partners of the Research Institute for Social and Gender Studies.

  The Round Table began with Welcome Speech by Meirgul Alpysbayeva, National Education Program Specialist of the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty, and Irina Chernykh, Project Coordinator of the Rosa Luxembourg Foundation Representative Office in Central Asia. Within the event researchers presented results of several projects. Among them is the monograph "Gender Aspects of the Great Patriotic War" by Professor Zharkynbayeva Roza from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and the analytical report "Review of scientific publications on gender and women studies in Kazakhstan over the past 7 years" presented by Shakirova Svetlana, head of the department for monitoring scientific publications, deputy chief editor of the journal "Bulletin" of Kazakh National Women's teacher Training University. Furthermore, professor of the University of Lyon - Laurence Tain made a presentation on the topic "Gender approaches: stakes in the global society (about the links between national and transnational factors)", and Professor of the University of Bucharest - Ionela Baluta presented a report on topic "Doing gender studies at the University of Bucharest: from a difficult institutionalization to anti-gender campaign".

  Further cooperation with researchers and partner organizations is planned in the framework of research projects, as well as in holding a Conference on gender studies.
