      Scholarships for students to increase by 20% this year

       ALMATY. June 15. Press center – In 2021 the stipends for students will increase by 20%, for undergraduates and doctoral candidates by 15%. Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aimagambetov announced it during the briefing on the platform of the Central Communications Service under the President of Kazakhstan.

      «In 2021 the amount of scholarship for students will be more than 31 thousand tenge, for undergraduates – about 76 thousand tenge, for doctoral students - more than 172 thousand tenge. By the order of the President by 2025 there will be a phased increase of scholarships for undergraduates, graduate students and doctoral candidates. As for the students, from September 1, 2020 the stipend for future teachers was increased up to 42,000 tenge, – said Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aimagambetov.

      In addition, Askhat Aymagambetov reported that this year a new system of scholarships for students, graduate students and doctoral candidates was developed. Now the scholarship goes directly to the card accounts of students. As the Minister noted, this will exclude corruption risks and ensure transparency of distribution of funds. Before that, the scholarship was transferred to the university, and after the calculation, it was sent to the student. Now a pilot project is being implemented.
