Emeritus British professor David Frost visited the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University as part of his official visit to Kazakhstan. Frost is co-director of the HertsCam Network and an honorary fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge. The British professor was welcomed by Rector Gulmira Qanay. Frost held a seminar for university lecturers on "How to effectively develop cooperation between schools and universities".
The scholar's visit was a significant event for the faculty of the women's university and contributed to the development of co-operation between educational institutions in Kazakhstan and the UK. As Frost's work over the years has focused on empowering teachers as agents of change. He has interviewed various people about the transformative effect this process has had on their lives.
Frost began his career as a school teacher in the UK before becoming a university lecturer. Since the 1980s, he has been actively developing strategies to enable teachers to become agents of change in their schools and communities. Frost also writes extensively on teacher leadership and has an interest in pedagogy and school leadership.
The HertsCam Network is an independent, not-for-profit, teacher-led organisation that seeks to transform education by supporting teacher leadership. It originated from a partnership formed in the 1990s between the University of Cambridge and the Hertfordshire Local Education Authority. Over time the network became increasingly independent and grew in size, and since 2013 the management and leadership of HertsCam has been fully taken over by schools and teachers.
