Professor from the University of Sussex met with QYZPU lecturers

  Professor Simon Thompson of the University of Sussex met with the teaching staff of the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University, as well as young academics, development programme managers and quality assurance and postgraduate education staff. The meeting was organised as part of a long-term strategic partnership between the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University and the University of Sussex.

                                                     

  Simon Thompson organised a special seminar on "What makes great HE Pedagogy - reflections on international & local perspectives". The seminar discussed contemporary approaches to teaching, methods of student assessment, and issues related to academic development and research. This meeting was part of a wider negotiation between the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University and the University of Sussex. Both parties are keen to develop a long-term strategic partnership, which includes the launch of dual degree Master's and Doctoral programmes. This partnership will provide students with the opportunity to obtain a British degree without leaving Kazakhstan.

                                                                            

  As a reminder, one of the key programmes envisaged under this partnership is the PGCE in Pedagogy and Practice international lateral entry programme. This programme will provide students with the opportunity to gain further education and qualifications in pedagogy. It will help develop teaching skills and improve the quality of education in Kazakhstan.

                                                          

  It is also envisaged to establish a centre of excellence for professors and teachers. This centre will help develop the professional skills of teachers and improve the quality of education in Kazakhstan. It will offer various programmes and activities aimed at developing teaching skills and updating knowledge. This partnership is an important step in the development of education and science in the country.
