Physiologists-geneticists of the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University have discovered an innovative method of cleaning the air of Almaty city from harmful substances. The project, aimed at improving the ecology and health of city residents, will enter the research and production phase this spring season, thanks to funding from the university.

The project leader, geneticist Askar Kalekeshov, says the first stage of the research will be to grow plants that can effectively absorb harmful substances. These plants will then be placed in densely populated areas of Almaty, after prior approval from local authorities.

"We plan to create green islands where plants can effectively filter the air and improve its quality. This approach is not only effective but also environmentally friendly, for plants, being natural filters, can significantly improve the environment," the scientist emphasised.

Another important stage of the project will be the production of biologically active preparations from plant extracts, which will contribute to the purification and recovery of the organism of citizens. These preparations will be developed on the basis of comprehensive research aimed at determining optimal concentrations of active substances for maximum positive effect on health. To collect plant raw materials, an expedition of scientists will go to the East Kazakhstan region.

"Our research will allow us to develop a model that can be successfully adapted in other cities facing air pollution problems," Askar Kalekeshov added.

The research will take place at the Koldi agro-biological station, located 25 kilometers from Almaty. With this large-scale project, the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University confirms its commitment to innovation and care for the future of the environment. In the coming years, Almaty residents can expect a significant improvement in air quality thanks to this unique scientific initiative.
