The prestige of the university has risen in the global competition! Gulnur Ibrai, a student of the Higher School of Pedagogy and Psychology of the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University, won a bronze medal at the World Cup in weightlifting.
400 athletes from 61 countries took part in the flagship competition organized by the Peruvian Weightlifting Federation in Lima, Peru. On behalf of Kazakhstan, 7 athletes were sent to test their skills in this competition.
During the competition, Gulnur Ibrai competed in the weight category up to 64 kg and scored a total of 197 points.
In the final of the competition, the Kazakh weightlifter met with athletes from Mexico and Colombia and found out their strengths. However, in terms of points, she lost to her opponents and took third place.
– Weightlifting plays an important role in my life. This sport allowed me to gain a lot of knowledge and experience. In my opinion, weightlifting has a lot of differences from other competitions. One of them is the creation of world records and stories in front of the audience. This effect is indescribable, – says Gulnur Ibrai.
According to Saduakas Chingizbayev, the head of the sports club «Ustaz» of the Women's University, there are high hopes for the future of the girl, who will study at the university in the specialty «Physical Culture and Sports».
