On the first day of the International Symposium on Turkic World Studies, a panel session entitled «Writing a Common Turkic History» was held.
The online meeting was attended by the Vice-President of the International Turkic Academy, PhD Askhat Kesikbay, Professor of Euphrates University of Turkey Ahmed Buran, Vice Rector of Niyde Omer Halisdemir University, Professor Ilyas Gokhan and Professor Hikmet Korash.
The meeting was opened by Ahmed Buran. In his speech, the Turkish scholar elaborated on the meaning and significance of writing a common Turkic history.
In turn, the Vice-President of the International Turkic Academy Askhat Kesikbay said that his organization was tasked to develop a textbook on Turkic history common to the Turkic world, which was carried out by the academy.
It should be noted that the textbook «Common Turkic History» developed by the International Turkic Academy on behalf of the heads of the Turkic Council member states has been included in the curriculum of schools in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey.
This year, the subject «Common Turkic History» was chosen as an elective by 30 thousand students in Turkey, 15 thousand students in Kazakhstan and 10 thousand students in Azerbaijan. The textbook covers the period from ancient times to the XV century. The textbook covers the history of the states founded by the Turkic peoples, their traditions, culture and the history of the emergence of national games.
Other scholars who spoke at the meeting noted that the Turkic world has a common culture and cultural heritage. Researchers believe that a joint study of it will be a great achievement and inexhaustible treasure for all Turkic people.
