Topic: Research of the management system of the educational process of physics in secondary school based on information technologies.
Abstract:
This project is aimed at developing and implementing an innovative management system for the educational process in 7th-grade physics using information technology to improve the quality of learning. The primary objective is to create a bank of assessment tasks in physics, including questions and problems organized by levels of difficulty, along with a rating system that will, for the first time, allow the measurement of student performance, teacher professionalism, and task complexity. This system will enable objective evaluation of students' knowledge, analyze the quality of teaching, and provide teachers with effective tools to enhance student progress.
The problem this project addresses is the lack of standardized tools and methods to objectively assess student preparedness, task complexity, and teacher professionalism. In most educational institutions, monitoring student performance and teaching quality is often subjective, leading to biased results and hindering efforts to improve the quality of educational services. In the context of rapidly evolving technology and the need to train a workforce with relevant skills and knowledge, this issue has become especially critical.
The methodological approach of the project involves using information technology to develop a rating system that encompasses students, teachers, and task complexity. Based on the collected data, indicators will be created to evaluate not only the current level of student preparedness but also their progress, the complexity of specific assessment tasks, and teacher effectiveness. The use of information technology and data analysis methods will make the process of tracking student performance more transparent and objective, providing precise recommendations for enhancing the learning process.
The expected outcomes include the development of a bank of assessment tasks in physics organized by levels of difficulty and a rating system for evaluating student performance and teacher professionalism. The implementation of this system in schools across Kazakhstan will enable a more accurate measurement and analysis of the educational process, allowing successful teaching methods to be identified and educational programs to be adjusted as needed. The tools developed are expected to significantly increase objectivity and transparency in the evaluation of educational quality.
The project will positively impact Kazakhstan's scientific, technical, and human resources potential by increasing the competitiveness of educational and scientific institutions. It will lay the foundation for preparing qualified specialists who can effectively utilize modern technologies and methods for managing the educational process. In the long term, the project will contribute to improving the quality of education in Kazakhstan by equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed in the digital economy.
The practical significance of the project lies in its high readiness for commercialization and large-scale application. The materials and systems developed within the framework of the project can be implemented not only in schools but also in broader educational structures, such as district, regional, and national education management systems. This will contribute to the development of a sustainable and flexible educational system that meets the requirements of modern society and the socio-economic development needs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Project Objectives:
The objective of the project is to develop and implement an innovative learning management system for teaching physics in the 7th grade, based on a computer-based bank of assessment tasks differentiated by levels of complexity, in order to objectively measure students’ knowledge levels and teachers’ professional competence, and thereby improve the quality of teaching and the mastery of educational content.
Purpose of the project:
To achieve the project objective, a structured approach has been developed in accordance with the defined set of tasks. The project tasks are formulated as follows:
1. Analysis of modern approaches to teaching physics in the 7th grade:
- studying curricula and teaching methodologies for physics in secondary schools;
- identifying challenges and opportunities in teaching physics at the 7th-grade level through the use of modern information technologies.
2. Investigation of issues related to managing the physics learning process in the 7th grade using a bank of assessment tasks (tests, questions, and problems) differentiated by levels of complexity and based on information technologies:
- evaluating the effectiveness of digital tools in improving teaching quality and students’ learning outcomes in physics.
3. Development of the foundation of a learning management system based on a computer-based bank of assessment tasks (tests, questions, and problems) differentiated by levels of complexity:
- defining key rating indicators, including the student rating, teacher rating, and the complexity rating of assessment tasks (tests, questions, and problems), based on students’ cumulative assessment results.
4. Pilot testing and implementation of the developed system:
- creating a pilot project to implement the learning management system in 7th-grade physics lessons in secondary schools, based on the bank of assessment tasks differentiated by levels of complexity;
- piloting the bank of assessment tasks (questions and problems) for 7th-grade physics differentiated by levels of complexity.
5. Evaluation of the quality of learning (student rating) and teachers’ professional competence (teacher rating), as well as assessment of the effectiveness of assessment tasks differentiated by levels of complexity (task complexity rating):
- comparing the results of physics teaching before and after the implementation of the learning management system.
6. Provision of support and training for teachers in using the system:
- developing training materials and professional development programs for teachers on working with the new system, based on the created bank of assessment tasks (questions and problems) differentiated by levels of complexity for 7th-grade physics;
- establishing a system of continuous support and feedback for teachers using the new learning management system.
7. Monitoring and analysis of implementation results:
- evaluating the effectiveness of the implemented system based on the analysis of students’ academic performance and teachers’ satisfaction;
- introducing adjustments and improvements to the learning management system based on the bank of assessment tasks (questions and problems) differentiated by levels of complexity for 7th-grade physics, drawing on the data obtained from pilot implementation in secondary schools.
Expected Result:
-
- Publication of at least 1 (one) article in a scientific journal indexed in the Web of Science database (Arts and Humanities Citation Index or Social Sciences Citation Index) or in a journal indexed in Scopus with a CiteScore percentile of at least 35, and publication of at least 1 (one) article in a journal with a CiteScore percentile of at least 50;
- Publication of 3 articles in domestic scientific journals recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
